Green Room nominated actor Tom Dent is best known for his ensemble performance in the 2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival's ‘Best Performance’ winning play After All This. Tom also played a lead role in Australia on Trial (ABC TV) and has been in many stage shows around Melbourne. Our paths first crossed when a mutual friend introduced us about a year and a half ago. I was immediately struck by his charisma. When thinking of who I would paint for this competition, he was the first to come to mind. After seeing him in a few different plays, I was happy to note that he carries that presence both on and off stage. This charisma will no doubt catapult him into a diversity of roles and projects. In painting him, I wanted that strength and presence to come across in his eyes. My immediate vision was of Tom seated in an old arm chair and I couldn't deviate from that image.
