Hardwood Drip

Grain & Gold (2014)

Pyrography, bronze, copper, brass and enamel on wood slices

Unmilled, lacquered wood 'slices' with surfaces adorned with wood-burned patterns incorporating intricate metal and enamel inlay. The 'nature/culture' discourse is explored through the combination of the organic and geometric, as embodied by the material contrasts in the work: various woods (eucalpyt, hardwood, milkwood, jasmine branches and false sandalwood) set with black enamel, bronze, copper, and brass in patterns inspired by the natural patterns so evident in the vegetation of the Northern Territory.

Made under the name baked goods.
