Saudade (2021)

Oil, iridescent acrylic and iridescent pigment on panel, 30cm diameter, Ravenswood Australian Women's Art Prize Highly commended 2021 (Emerging Artist category)

Home is the rare collision of a particular set of people, in a particular place, at a particular time which forms its own unique constellation. And once left, it can never be revisited.

Some of those same stars may appear in a new constellation of home, but it will always be a permutation. Yourself, people, places-they all change. You move away; your people move away. A place where you once felt at home, now gives you the feeling of being a stranger: persistent restlessness, crisscrossing oceans, voluntary migration, floating in a liminal space, longing, always longing for something that you may never have again, maybe never had, but still carry with you.
