Sommerhuset (2026)
Oil on canvas, 91.5 × 55cm
The view in this work looks through the front door window of a vacation house in Denmark, where my partner is from. Sommerhuset served as a base during trips to visit family and friends, a place of calm and grounding amid days filled with excursions. The house has since been sold, taking with it our quiet refuge.
The textured glass in the door blurs and distorts the front garden beyond, just as the house and its memories have begun to fade over time.
This work is part of a larger series exploring objects and places that are held or preserved, and what that reveals about memory and intention.
